Discover the flavors of tradition

The restaurant Dona Maria is a tribute to our Donas Marias, from the skillful hand-cooks to the queens and princesses that are part of our History. We want to rescue the best traditional recipes from Porto and the North of the country, and get inspiration from noble dishes such as those that live in the “Livro de Cozinha da Infanta D. Maria de Portugal” and those that populate our memories.

These regional dishes are revealed in all their splendor in the pairings that we create with the nectars that integrate our vast wine cellar, wines that also accompany in a unique way our sharing dishes, in the good tradition of the best conviviality at the table.

Reincarnating the spirit of the Douro vineyard and its hillsides, the Dona Maria is dressed in autumn tones and organic forms that give it movement, such as the ceiling “torn” by giant vine leaves or the sinuous wine cellar that surrounds the entire space. Marble, velvet, and wood dominate the various dining areas, open or in more reserved niches. The dining room extends to the outside, where a comfortable esplanade with a magnificent view of Porto overlooks the rooftops.

Come celebrate with us the authenticity of Portuguese cuisine and wines in an elegant yet informal, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

Wines with a soul

Authenticity and character are transversal characteristics of the wines that make up the Dona Maria wine cellar. Originating from the main Portuguese wine regions, these wines are the result of the work of successive generations of winemakers, who knew how to combine the quality of the terroirs of each region with elements of tradition and modernity.

The restaurant’s careful selection of wines is therefore a reflection of what is best made in Portugal at this level and aims to be a tribute to all those who work the vineyard and wine.

Cuisine with a national character

Dona Maria’s cuisine incorporates the richness and traditions of Portuguese cuisine in the process of creating its dishes, rooted in the search for the best seasonal ingredients in local markets, at the fish market or with national producers.

We believe that cooking is a game of sensations that allows one to create, respect, seduce and feel, through which one can travel the flavors of Portugal, a mirror of our origins and memories..

Journey through the flavors of Portugal

Private Wine Rooms

“Sala dos Trinta”

This is the liquid gold room par excellence, not only because it protects some of the best national wines, but also because it boasts design elements that take us back to the wine universe. A single table, able to host up to 30 people, is the soul of this space that, among an exceptional collection of wines and books related to the world of wine, intends to be a space of unique and unrepeatable experiences.

“Sala dos Vinte”

The fireplace, the walls, whose colors oscillate between amber tones and wood, make this one of the coziest rooms in The Lodge. The colors mark the ambiance and the table, with capacity for about 20 people, dictates the exclusivity of this space, under which hangs one of the most characteristic pieces of The Lodge, a kite-shaped lamp that refers to the wine universe and to the genesis of the hotel.
